Building on a Long-Standing Partnership

Grandprint operates in both commercial and packaging printing, serving a wide range of production requirements, including complex specifications and advanced finishing applications. The company has installed more than 50 Komori offset presses and over 50 MBO post-press systems as core components of its production infrastructure, supporting continued expansion in both capacity and quality. Building on this long-standing relationship, the partnership extends beyond equipment deployment to focus on integrated solutions that optimize the entire production workflow and accelerate smart factory development.

In July 2026, Grandprint's management team visited Japan and toured Komori's headquarters and Tsukuba Plant. The two companies discussed the direction of their future collaboration and exchanged views on initiatives for smart factory development and manufacturing advancement through Komori's technologies and integrated solutions, as well as visits to production facilities.

Advancing Production Through Integrated Solutions

Based on Grandprint's business strategy and production requirements, Komori will provide integrated solutions that combine equipment, systems, and production processes. The collaboration focuses on the following areas:

1. Accelerating Data-Driven Manufacturing

Integration of KP-Connect Pro with Grandprint's MES (Manufacturing Execution System) to enhance visibility across production processes and support improved operational efficiency and stability.

2. Expanding Production Flexibility

A broad range of offset press configurations--from 26- to 46-inch models, including single-sided, perfecting, and double-sided presses--will support flexible production for both commercial and packaging printing applications.

3. Enabling Higher-Value Print Applications

Optimized printing processes for applications such as label stocks, PVC substrates, and spot-color printing will support stable production of value-added products.

4. Enhancing Product Value Through Digital Printing and Finishing

The combination of J-throne 29 digital press, MBO folding systems, Scodix digital enhancement solutions, and Bograma die-cutting systems to improve both product value and production efficiency.

Together, these initiatives will help establish a flexible production platform capable of meeting diverse product and application requirements across both commercial and packaging markets.

Three-Year Smart Factory Roadmap

A key component of the partnership is the phased development of a smart factory through equipment and system integration. By linking KP-Connect Pro with Grandprint's MES, production data and equipment performance will be visualized to support optimization of the entire production workflow.

The implementation roadmap includes:

2026: Connection of 36 Komori offset presses to KP-Connect Pro

2027: Expansion to more than 60 connected presses

2028: Integration of all Komori equipment with the MES across the Grandprint group

This roadmap will support increasingly advanced data-driven production management while enabling more efficient and stable operations.

Through this partnership, Komori will further strengthen its ability to provide integrated solutions that combine equipment, systems, and digital technologies tailored to customers' production challenges and business strategies. Leveraging the insights gained through this initiative, Komori will continue supporting customers' operational efficiency, value creation, and long-term growth while contributing to the continued advancement of the printing industry.
